Today we're proud to announce a new version of Microbiome Explorer that is easier to read, more detailed, more insightful and more accurate than ever before.

Microba Microbiome Explorer is an industry leading microbiome test across Australia and the United Kingdom. Today, we’re very excited to announce four major improvements to the product that will help accelerate and sharpen care for your patients.

Easier to read - the full story, on one page

Microbiome Explorer has always prided itself on featuring industry-leading design. However, reading Microbiome Explorer used to mean clicking between pages and assembling the picture yourself. Our new one-page report design makes it easy to navigate the entire report by simply scrolling.

Everything you need for your patient is at the very top, as part of the new Report summary (previously named Expert summary) - a more refined and concise overview. Then you can dig deeper into detail as you scroll. There’s the Related intervention research section - your new home for insights, Marker explorer - with every marker in one place, and another new addition, Species explorer - with a full species table.

Microba has long pioneered the important concept that properly evaluating the microbiome is about understanding the functional capacity of the entire community – not just focusing on individual well known species. With our new Species in Marker feature, you can see that very complicated, nuanced, and interesting relationship for yourself.

Click any microbiome marker in the report and see the full list of contributing species in the species details drawer. This makes our underlaying analysis visible, so you can trace exactly how the species detected in the sample map to the marker result. Because just like a Jenga tower, when you can see every block contributing to the function, you can better understand the tower as a whole, and have more confidence in the treatment plan you're building.

More insightful – the latest intervention research

Microbiome Explorer 3.0 includes the latest evidence-graded interventions based on recent microbiome research. This has resulted in us adding 26 new interventions - spanning diet and lifestyle research, giving practitioners a broader, more current evidence base to draw on for every treatment plan you build.

As part of this update we’ve also strengthened ratings where newer or higher-quality studies have emerged, adjusted others, and have retired a small number no longer supported by current evidence. You'll find these interventions in the related research section or in the drawer alongside the result.

More accurate – refined healthy reference ranges

Microbiome Explorer has always led the field by not just providing results but also benchmarking those results against carefully defined healthy reference ranges. These ranges are derived from our proprietary Healthy Cohort data – microbiome data from a large group of healthy adults.

As part of our continued investment in accuracy, we have released a larger, stringently defined cohort that delivers more robust healthy reference ranges, strengthening the benchmark that underpins every report. This update ensures every report reflects the highest standards of accuracy.
